Karatsu City

If you continue westward from Itoshima, you'll arrive at Karatsu City, which prospered through trade with the continent since ancient times. You can enjoy exploring the castle town of Karatsu, savoring the squid in Yobuko, and visiting the love power spot of Sayo Hime Shrine. Additionally, in November, the Karatsu Kunchi festival, which is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, is held. It's a major event that attracts a total of 500,000 visitors. Even outside the Karatsu Kunchi festival period, you can experience the power of the festival floats at the float exhibition hall and learn about the history of the Karatsu Kunchi.
